Did you know there will be a National Stress Awareness Day in 2024?
It will be on November 7, and many companies will hold various health awareness events to raise awareness about stress at the workplace, recognise symptoms of anxiety, and learn how to manage stress more effectively.
Stress is one of the major reasons staff members are absent from work, and it has become a key focus for companies to respond to stress and learn stress management techniques proactively.
Stress at work manifests itself in many ways and is often demonstrated in a fight-or-flight situation. The result is that we may end up in an angry, confrontational situation (fight) that may evoke future anxiety, depression, etc. Or we might “flee”—run away from the situation or put our heads in the sand. This may be demonstrated by social withdrawal, substance misuse, surfing on the net, etc.
During this process, the body experiences many physiological symptoms of stress, including increased heartbeat, blood pressure, sweaty palms, adrenaline, and pupil dilation. If the body continually experiences these, then the symptoms of stress begin to impact the mind and body.
At One offers stress management training, where you will begin to better understand workplace stress, recognise the signs of stress, and learn practical tips on managing and reducing stress.
